I’ve decided on their name and its that they don’t have one.
They are a benevolent creature for the most part, and mute, using their face shifting ability to communicate.
They have a bad memory, forgetting where they came from, how old they are, their birthday, their name, their pronouns, and even their own face. They usually end up relying on the person they attach themselves to for these details. However, if these details fall into disuse, they will forget them once again. They fall into quite a tumultuous state if they go too long without an identity, and can be quite scary when desperate to acquire one.
